    Dubai Islands is a new coastal area of Dubai, which is being built on five artificial islands near Deira, between Al Mamzar Beach Park and the Infinity Bridge. From here, it is approximately 20 minutes by car to Dubai International Airport, about half an hour to Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa, and approximately 25-30 minutes to Business Bay.

    The main idea behind Dubai Islands is to combine life by the sea with the usual urban comforts. The area is being developed by Nakheel: residential developments, hotels, a marina for yachts, golf courses, long promenades and beaches, including a beach with an international Blue Flag certificate, are planned here. The Riu Dubai Beach Resort and Centara Mirage Beach Resort Dubai are already operating on the islands. They have their own beaches, water parks, lazy rivers, children's areas and entertainment programmes.

    Souk Al Marfa, a large indoor market on the waterfront with shops, cafes and food courts, is already open on the islands. Plans include a large shopping centre, Deira Mall, and Deira Islands Night Souk with waterfront restaurants and a marina. For large purchases, residents of properties on Dubai Islands often go to City Centre Deira, one of Dubai's main malls with well-known brands and a large selection of restaurants.
